Sutton Mariners Sailing Club is based in Sutton, Surrey and is designed for boating enthusiasts. Sutton Mariners was formed in 1988 by some 12 people with an interest in all forms of boating – from dinghy sailing to cruising both power and sail. These each contributed £5 to get the club off the ground.
The aim of the club is to promote & facilitate the sport of boating, both sail & power, to provide for the study of seamanship and to provide social and other facilities whenever possible.
The club is in the third decade of its life and now has some 57 members who come to club nights to learn about things boating and enjoy talks covering a wide range of interest to the sailor. We also have members living in various parts of the country that enjoy meeting up on the sailing rallies that are organised throughout the summer. These normally take place in the Solent and Isle of Wight area or occasionally further along the coast or across the Channel to France and Channel Islands.
We currently meet at the Sutton United Football Ground in Borough Sports Ground, Gander Green Lane, Sutton, Surrey. SM1 2EY. Meetings take place every Thursday evening starting at 20.00 until approximately 22.00. We are 200 yards from West Sutton Station and on the 413 bus route. Visitors and prospective members are very welcome to come and visit us on any club night. Please check our programme on the ‘What’s On’ pages. There is a licenced bar and tea making facilities available.
We have a very full list of events and social activities and visits to places of interest to the members.
Membership is open to anyone over the age of 18 years, with or without boating experience, and fees currently stand at £25 for full membership. Country membership at £12.50 is available to anyone over 18 years of age and lives 15 nautical miles or more from the club.
